I'm still here

Yes I know I know, I've not been updating this thing.
After living a few weeks of leisure, it’s time to get my
furry little (err well; big and not so furry) butt into gear.
I have two unofficil uni results, marks of 65 & 69,
which is not too shabby. I will not know the third one till mid December.
I’ve now got myself into World of Warcraft :P
I’m still in SL (second life) although like RL (real life)
you sometimes need to escape from it, hence WoW :P I spose.
I’m kind of, sort of, looking for some work to do over the
summer holidays. If the work finds me, even better!
The puddy cats are doing well, on the vets advice, I’m now
using a different brand of flea treatment (more expensive) but it looks like it
is doing the trick. Gah which reminds me, I need to buy some worming tablets
for them. (as it has to be done every three months), I do it at the start of
every season, it is meant to help me remember!
Honestly, that’s all I can think of to talk about; there is
more than that stuff happening in my life, I just feel blogging it, is not the
way I want to express it, nor do I want to send you to sleep. :P

I know I know

Hi you lot, yes I'm still alive.

I've been busy busy with uni stuff. I've finished classes for the year, I just have an exam on the 16th. Then I am free. I'll try and pick up some work during the summer holiday.

Not much else has been happening really. I have my mummy staying for a few days, so that will be nice. We are going into Freo and eating at my favourite reastraunt...mmmmmmm sushi.

I'm also busy doing a cross stitch, of two beautyfull tigers.

The diet has gone out of the window :(

I've been keeping myself busy with Second Life, pulling up my virtual sleaves and helping to make the island the place to be.

Yes I know I've not posted

Hi you lot.

Not much to say really, uni is uni, still having a love hate relationship with the library content. I have decided not to do further study after this, sure 1-2 day courses, but no more full time, structured study for this old chook.

My life has become sooooo repetitive, I'm even having the same "themed" dreams again. Very frustrating that, especially the ones that are 'MA' rated.   ;) ;)

I've taken cross stitch back up again :)  I've been doing it while listening to my uni readings.

Well that's about all I can think of for now, till next time my followers

101

Well according to my blog dashboard, this is my 101th post!  YAY for me.

Lets see, what has happened to me this week....I have confirmed that I dislike large mega stores. The last few times I've been in, I've had panic attacks, and have to fight the urge to drop my shopping and leave the building in a disorderly fashion, by shaking, crying and running blindly into windows that I think are automatic doors. What I find strange, it's only a relative new disorder, like in the last 5 years or so.

My dad got his ticker tinkered with, and should be feeling a lot better soon, now we just have to tie him down, get him to stop running around like a man half his age.

One of my fish has / is changing colour. I have a funny suspicion it's due to the lack of vitamin D (sunlight) I moved the tank, now my completely black fish is now 90% gold, except for his fins and bobble eyes.

I was playing a MMOG called Earth Eternal (EE), but it closed down, however I've recently heard that it now has new owners and it should be up and running again. In the mean time I'm playing one called Alien Adoption Agency, it's more of a text based game, not like EE that was 3D. Still it's fun to play and well we all need to have fun, life can not be all work.

Well that's about it, the rest of my week was just mundane stuff.
As my football team is out of the AFL grand final all I can say is....... GO St Kilda!   (but I wont watch the game :P )

oooo ekk

I'm moving my posting day to early Monday mornings, like 7am early. Fridays have become my hectic day, as that's when assignments are due. As much as I would like to take the time out to blog, I'll be instead running around like a mad chook working on last minute writing / editing and then traipsing over to uni for submission. So now you'll have something to look forward to as you ease yourself into a Monday :)

opppsie, I forgot to blog on Friday

Hi All

We apologise for that break in transmission, we now return you to your normal schedule.

Sorry, I had my mind elsewhere on Friday. I had an essay to write and hand in. Then when I got home, I just wanted to chill out for the rest of the day. Plus there is not much to say really. Uni is uni, I'm still lazy and not getting stuck into my assignments and readings as much as I would like.

I am playing computer games to keep my mind active and fresh, yes that's it. I'm not being lazy, I'm exercising my mind, so when I come to do an essay, my senses are sharp/ :P

Well that week went fast

So much for having the week off to study. I ended up studying computer games and re watching Babylon 5. B5 is a very good sci-fi series from the late 90's. I did get a bit of real study done :P

During the week, I had a nice chat with my brother in MSN, he nearly convinced me to join a dating service. I was telling one of my friends in SL about this. He commented that well there are plenty of fish in the sea, I replied by saying "yer but I want to make sure the bait looks good first"  :)  I'll leave it at that for now, I may think about signing up once I've finished my studies.

This morning I went out for a FIRK's breakfast. It is basically a group of records type people getting together before work to network, catch up on records type news and well news in general. I managed to acquire one business card for possible prac placement for next year. :)  Another thing to come out of the breakfast was that one lady, although a records person, was working in a corporate library as a temp staff, (or something like that), so it made me think, that doing the library aspect of the undergrad is not that stupid or a waste after all.

Ok time to go and hit those computer games books.
take care and happy fathers day for Sunday

4 weeks down and some more to go

Hi All

Well the end of the 4th week of uni is apone me, technically next week is a holiday; well it's more of a holiday from classes. I still have a lot of homework to do over the next week. I've put a request in for more hours in a day, but despite my friends agreeing with the proposal, it has yet to be acknowledged by any major influences. :P

For my records unit, the lecturer has taken to getting us to discuss topics in small groups, and then report back on our findings to the class. The picture below was my teams contribution. I'll explain it after you have a had a look at it.

Ok, the task was to explain the relationship between, risk (represented by the ghost), how compliance to laws keeps risk managed (the pacman), and how all employees are accountable to comply to the compliance laws (the tie and shirt). To manage / control compliance and accountability is governance, (the game controller).  When presenting our findings, everyone sounded impressed with our visual representation of the question set.

I kind of think life is to short to be serious all the time :P

Well time to hit those books.

3 weeks of uni and all is well

G'day G'day

Well, lets see what has happened to em'wa during the last week.
My weekend was quiet, my parents phoned me up on Monday to say they had a wild weekend at one of there RV clubs, boozing, laughing and well acting like teenagers. It was good to hear, but it made me feel like the parent; in that I was staying home and they were whooping it up :P

The rest of the week, was, well just boring Uni. I'm getting into the swing of things nicely. Considering I"m now officially half way through, I believe I can do it now.

During the week I did get attacked by two cats. (see picture below) Sam is cradled in my left arm and  Gandalf is on my chest. Thankfully I had my right arm free to take the picture (which is rather tricky) and use the TV remote. God knows what it would have been like if I had three cats.

Today I went into he city for the first time in some month. I went to the ABC Shop and spent well.  :P  and I had a nice lunch with my parents.

That's it for this week
Take care

It's Friday, despite the blog saying Thurs

Hi Guys,
Tnx for sticking with me.

Not much to say really, I got over my colds, uni is going OK. I've been twittering a bit more. About the most shocking news I have to tell is that, I've been kind of getting into this whole election thing. I'm actually taking things seriously, and really thinking about what I stand for, and thus who I want to vote for. This may not sound like much, but believe you me, it's a big deal for me. So yer, I'm going to vote for the Green's, as I like what they stand for. No Internet filter, better treatment of the boat people and the ability for same sex marriages.

A ta-ter-tate with Kat

Hello, pull up a chair and have a quick cup of coffee while you read on.

Well it was first week back a Uni, this was the 'introduction' week, so us students can ease our way back into things. It was good to catch up with folks too. This semester units are as follows, one on library collection management, one of resource description (cataloguing / indexing) this one is more from a library point of view. The final unit is on Records Management, which as you know, is right up my ally. Mind you, with all that said and done, the thought of becoming a library manager is not as "blaugh" as I use to think it would be.  So yer, I'm feeling good about this semester and what it has install for me.

As for the other bits, outside of Uni, well I had 2 separate colds, and 2 bouts of laryngitis :(

Ok, stay slinky guys, and take it easy

not the best of weeks

Friday again, and look I'm blogging!

Yes, I did get a slight cold, and not the flu. But I do have laryngitis though. I may not be sounding well, but I felt quite cherpy through the week, ok except for Mon and Tue, they were crap.

I was glad to see Adam win the Master Chef title, I would like to buy his book, but honestly how many things would I cook out of it. On a side note, I did buy a second hand Margaret Fulton Cookbook, for Microwave cooking! I'll be attempting some from there over the weekend.

My SL friend has been in hospital this week, he has been giving twitter updates on his condition. Wish I could have gone over to see him, but I spose not the best thing to do, after all I don't want to give him my cold. Speaking of SL, I played my first game of SLOPOLY, yep that's right a SL version of Monopoly. It's still getting quieter in there, which for me could be a good thing, this way I can concentrate on Uni.

Speaking of Uni.......it's starts on Monday. I've been able to look at some of the assignments, as expected some a doozies and some look rather simple. This semester there is one dedicated to Records Management, so hoping to learn heaps. Over the week I've been slowly getting things organised for the weeks ahead.

Well that's it from me, seeya's next week.

Friday again

Well it's Friday again.

This week, mum and dad came over, and they taxi'ed me around to get my computers fixed. YAY. So now I can play "The Sims 3" and access data I've not seen in about 3 years. Needless to say for the rest of the week I played the sims, and had a look at what was on the old computer.

This week I aslo had lunch with the gals. and caught up on office gossip. I've been getting suttle hints from them, they want me back after I've graduated. Which is sweet, but I've not accepted the offer just yet.

I'm starting to show some flu like symptoms, so fingers crossed I don't go down for the count, I blame my partents, they might have shared it with me.

SL is going well, it's a bit quieter than usual, but I'll live. After all it is my main social outlet.

It's the Master Cheff final this week, GO ADAM

The cats are going well, I sure Gandalf is not licking as much now. The fish are going swimmingly (pun fully intended), and I do believe the smaller one has grone into the new tank.

Well I better go, I need to scamper around to the side of the house to check the model number of the gas hotwater system, and then I'm off to hang out with a uni friend veg out and watch some movies.

Till next week

The week that was

I have a cunning plan, to post every Friday with a summery of my week. I read somewhere if something is done regularly, it becomes a habit. Once is becomes a habit, it becomes second nature and thus a part of my life.

OK, sooooooo, what happened this week.

I caught up with a college friend for coffee, we mooched about Freo and then had lunch. It was cool. Then I went home and made some Sweet Potato Scones for my parents who would be popping over the next day. (Last time they were here, dad joked and said "what no Pavlova, or cakes") so this time I went to a bit of effort for him. That evening I get a phone call, they both have colds and want to put a rain cheque on the visit. So the next day I scoff the whole batch (about 12 of em) They tasted so-so. I put this down to two things, my crappy cooking skills, and the fact that I don't own a oven oven, I had to do cook them in the convection microwave.

As you know I got my uni results back. :)  The rest of the week I've been forcing myself to play computer games and chill out in SL. I'm also in the process of getting something custom made for me to ware. It's something I've wanted for a long time now. That's all I say on the matter for now.

Results are in.

'ello 'ello

Uni results are in, and yes I did pass all my units with credits and distinction.  Not to shabby, considering I was not fully well, lets just say. 'into the uni swing' all throughout the semester. I'm sure next semester I'll be jumping in, and putting a bit more effort into things.

That's about it really.

OK allready

It's nice to be wanted, this is for the people who have been nagging me to update my blog.

Well I hope you like the new look, I think a new logo (header) is called for.

Ok, so what has been happening (as usual I'll do it in point format)
  • On holidays from uni, will get my results on July 14, I'll blog the results. I'm looking forward to the next semester, this is because I didn't really get into the last one till about the 3rd last week.
  • My dad had been in hospital, he had a mild heart attack. So he is finally listening to us and not running around like a 40 year old. (he will be 70 in December)
  • As for my love life, well it went cold, we are still friends though :)
  • The cats are doing well. :)  both the furry and football kind
  • I'm still enjoying SL and could get to go into the test server soon
  • Got HP lego game, so playing that a bit, as well as other puter games.
  • Enjoying watching Master Cheff, I hope either Adam or Alvin wins. And no the show has not inspired me to get out the pots and pans to cook up a storm, as that would involve doing the dishes when I've finished.
  • It's bloody cold
  • Been invited to a murder mystry night (western theme) so that should be good for a laugh.
That's all folks

Last Week

Well, who would have funk it, it's the last week of Uni for this semester. There have been good times, and there have been soso times. I can feel myself getting better at this, I may still be getting some soso marks, but that's down to being lazy not dumb :)

As for Second Life, weeelllll, I've just brought a plot of land. I've called "Sanctuary", a place for my friends to come and chill out on neautral territrory :)  the man in my life is still there :)

The cats are doing well.

All is well

ok here is an update to my last post
All is well

after a short tence moment we talked things through, it was just a case of miss communication, one was giving space, the other though they had stoped loving them.    mmmmm so all I can say folks is, thought it may hurt on the inside, just talk with your significant other. Sure things may no got the way you wanted them too, but at least you know, and you can stop being so anxious.

:)

and no, I'm not giving out any gory details, I have to respect my other half her too.

Some time you just gotta do what you gotta do

Life is full of up's and down's, that I can cope with. It's just when part of your life is up, but the other part is down, is the one thing I can not cope with, I spose the only thing one can do is cry. So that is what I did.

The up's - Uni is going well, I'm getting some rather good marks, still a sticky point with the spelling though.
The down's - I have a local heckler, needless to say going to the shops has become a chore. Today he out did himself. he was in his house talking to his house mate, and then he took the effort to stop the conversation to heckle me as I walked past on the footpath.  *pure class*
The other downer is complicated, I got myself involved with someone, knwoing full well where it would end up (splitsville), now it has ended up there. I don't know, if I'm angry at him, or at me, for letting myself get carried away with the moment, I think deep down, I'm more dissapointed in me. My little angle is sobbing quietly in the corner, but the little devil in me is saying "hey, it was fun while the ride lasted, now lets you and me get drunk, and it may shut angle up too"

Y

In the last few days I've been saying Y as in why,  a lot. This question has been aimed at my uni undertaking. The novelty has warne off, and I'm feeling less motivated to work hard on assignments. Even the thought of some sping cleaning is temping over writing assignments.

So why, couldn't have I been happy in my old old job, it wasn't that bad, regular hours, a nice income, and some good people. This then leads onto the question, So why did I want out, I was slowly moving up the career ladder, earning my stripes, sure I was becoming frustrated, I spose I knew I had more potential, and needed a challenge. Then I got it, in the form of a new job with a new company. However this placement was to much of a challenge, It felf like I  had joined a sinking ship, and all that I had to keep it afloat was a bucket with a hole in it, but again I met some nice people.Ok so I knew I needed a challenge, I knew I had potential, now I knew I needed more training.

So this is Y, I am going to uni, to show myself that I can do it. So now, nearly half way through the cours, I'm now aksing myself, Y am I at the now the tender age of 40, putting myself through all this. A fellow student said she has a picture of her dream home, that she could purchas once graduated and emplayed. I think I need a similar motivation, someting to look at, that will encourage me to continue on. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

So the last Y question I have for me is, Y am I not working on my assignment that is due in a day or two :)

Being Katisha
Oh if only I could do it again, would I really choose a diffrent path

*Being Erica is a TV show on ABC2 where this woman gets to relive her past, and to make diffrent decision, but I sope like her in the end she makes the same choices, because underneath it all we are who we are. I could go back and stick at my origianl job, but I don't think if would have drematically changed the path I now find myself taking.

I know where I've come from, I just now need to know where I'm going to.

**no time to spell check, so you are getting this in the raw format**

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

the joys of haveing a social life

*Katisha stands on soap box*

"I don't have time for a real life (RL) as I'm too busy maintining my Virtual Life (VL)"
Is it jut me or do you have to set asside 2-3 hours in every day just to maintain your social net presence? If it's not facebook, blogs, myspace, emails... ok ok I did join up to "avatars united"....but I'm still staying away from FB.

Don't get me wrong, I luv the WWW, chatting to peeps in Second Life. I just think a line has to be drawn somewhere.

*gets off soap box*

I'm back at Uni, all is going well

News from the Kat

Wow 2 posts in one month! Don't get to excited now.

From my last post I have some sad news to report. I lost my 2 figher fish. Loosing one fish was ok, (alass I was not really attatched to him) but the death of Fennic was a bit harder to take. I should of looked after him better. I had him for just over 1 year, now I don't know if that is good for a domesticated fish or not. I spose that is way I feel so bad for not looking after him, because this and many other answers I should know. In honnor of his short life, in SL I got to name a street after him "Phennic Way"  Because the road leads the way to a few places, including my new adventure.  Yes, I've made a virtual pub, complete with virtual beer.

The work I'm doing is going really well, I'm a bit lonley, but I will live. As there is no handy place to buy lunch, I've got into the routine of bringing my luch to work.

That's about it really....oh there is more stuff, but it's just sooo mundain, it's not worth typing about. :)

Stay cool
(I has a new portable air conditioner, so now I can do that)
